the goal is not to get good at school and prove through assessment that you learned what was taught. On the contrary, in a truly modern assessment, the challenge is to look forward, not backward: We must determine if the student is ready for future challenges in which they must transfer prior learning. We should look at whether the student can draw creatively and effectively on their repertoire when handling a novel challenge, not merely determine whether they learned stuff.
